When it comes to understanding political issues, I'm a self confessed toddler. That’s why I enlisted the help of Steve, my politically savvy drinking buddy, to help me understand how government effects our everyday lives and our interactions with each other.
"What am politics?" is a lighthearted and casual bi-weekly podcast that Steve and I record over Skype. It's inception came with the personal realization that the subject of politics is now, more than ever, a difficult topic to navigate. In a highly polarized world, good political discourse is absolutely essential. With this in mind, and realizing that I was lacking in this department, I approached Steve about starting this podcast.
Steve takes care of research, I look after art direction and audio editing, and we both act as co-hosts and producers.
Feel free to listen below.
This week Steve and Richie overcome their childhood fear of talking to girls as they speak with special guest Leena Norms about "What am feminism?"
Subjects covered include: Ireland is Hufflepuff, the Femictionary, Man-spreading/splaining, Steve's phone number betrayal.
We interrupt this broadcast to bring you a sleep deprived and giggle filled breakdown on the UK snap election announcement. Why was it called? Where do each of the political parties stand? What does it mean for Brexit? What is Theresa May's R&B name? Listen to find out.
Prepare your ears for the sultry, buttery tones of our special guest, Mr Ger Carney. The boys talk to Ger about the European Union, it's history, modern day relevance, and Brexit.
Non-political subjects covered include: Pantless podcasting, Ger's crowd sourced corrections, BeneluXXX Nightclub, Richie's cowboy confidence, Earth's little friend.
If this week's episode has an uncharacteristic air of legitimacy to it, then it is entirely down to the political wit and insight of our special guest, Dr Dónal Mulligan.
Dónal guides the boys through the rapidly evolving world of social media in politics. Its history, uses and abuses, and future.
Nonpolitical subjects covered include: Steve's exploding technology, haughty corrections, sexy boudoir podcasting, #FartGate.
It's a St Patrick's Day special! What does that mean? Well, in addition to drinking while recording (which is nothing new, really) Steve teaches Richie all about Irish politics.
Subjects covered include: Michael D Higgins' new Netflix series, why Lucky Charms are terrible, Paddy's Day vs Patty's Day, Richie's political poster problems, and the worst pint of Guinness ever.

A huge thanks to to Supermarket Love for our awesome new theme music.
Welcome to a very special, a very sultry, and a very velour clad episode of What am politics. Richie makes the most of getting to record in the evening for a change as Steve, conversely, endures the unforgiving cold and dark of recording at 6am.
This week our boys discuss crocodiles, Oprah for president, Obama's knowledge of what a "taint" is, and voting.
Thanks for downloading and please feel free to share with a friend.
How is the founding of the United States congress related to the rebooted Planet of the Apes movies? Listen to this weeks episode to find out as our boys tell you everything you need to know about "What am congress?"

After taking a quick detour in which Steve airs some deep personal grievances towards a certain sunglass wearing frontman, our boys tackle the big question of What am law?
Steve acts as Richie's political advisor as he guides him through the murky waters of getting his chosen (and deeply personal) law passed.
Thanks for downloading! Please feel free to share with a friend if you have the time and feel inclined.
Left wing vs right wing politics, the latest installment in our boys booze fueled opus.
How did these ideologies come about? What makes them different from each other? How do they fit into modern politics?
As ever, we discuss the week's big political news stories and check in on Trump's America. Steve also explores what odds the bookies have on the future of Trump's presidency *Spoiler* It's hilarious and gross.

President Donald Trump has been a busy boy these past two weeks. Initiating a travel ban that's huge in scale but small in thought is no small feat, but somehow he still found time to announce his pick for the US Supreme Court.
In this week's episode we drink some alcohol, review some of Trumps recent actions and Steve teaches Richie "What am US Supreme Court?"
How did it start? What does it do? How does it fit into Trump's America?
Thanks for downloading and enjoy!
Did you hear about Brexit? Maybe you didn't. It was this super underground, low key political movement that got little to no media exposure. Not to worry, a mere two days after publishing their first episode, our boys are back to explain Brexit in their trademark style of endearingly clumsy discourse.
What is it? How did it happen? What's Next?
Thanks for listening!
For their inaugural episode, Steve and Richie tackle Trump... not literally, but that'd be funny. Where he came from, what he's done, what will he do?
This episode was recorded in late December so apologies for the occasional outdated reference. Additional apologies for the more than occasional training bra reference.
Thanks for downloading and happy listening!
